Luncheon at Sardi's on July 12, 2012

At our special summer luncheon, the Broadway Association was honored to welcome Sam (Gridlock Sam) Schwartz.  Sam was Traffic Commissioner and Chief Engineer at the NYC Department of Transportation during the 1980s and is currently a traffic columnist and a world renowned transportation consultant.  His firm Sam Schwartz Engineering studied the Thanksgiving Day Parade Route when it was moved to Seventh Avenue in 2009.

Sam discussed New York City's dysfunctional tolling scheme and how his "fair pricing" proposal seeks to level the playing field by reducing traffic entering the Central Business District, creating new infrastructure opportunities and maintaining the city's roads and bridges in a state of good repair.
